Service Area: Newport News

This program is for: children in foster care, low-income households, expectant parents

Program description: Provides early childhood education to low-income, at-risk four-year-old children at Aberdeen Elementary School in Hampton. Services include early childhood education, social services, health, nutrition, and transportation to those who qualify. Children learn through the “Doors to Discovery” curriculum and the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs). Emphasis is placed on fine motor skills, gross motor skills, language, cognitive thinking, reading readiness, math readiness, visual perception, socialization and science.

STAT: 51 children at Aberdeen Elementary school have received comprehensive early childhood education services.
