Program description: The Human Rights Commission works to protect all residents of Newport News from unlawful discrimination due to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status or disability occurring in public places, schools as well as within real estate transactions and employment decisions. The commission works to preserve the community’s safety, health and welfare by investigating any allegations of unlawful discrimination.
